ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

The exhibit explores a small fraction of the life and beauty beneath the water through the vivid oil paintings of Inez Hudson. For this collection, the artist used the dive videos of her friends, Tom and Bridget, as an inspiration and resource. Working from screenshots of the film footage, Hudson brings the brilliant diversity of our underwater world to her canvases in strokes of vibrant color. Step into the museum and come along on the dive with her!

ABOUT INEZ HUDSON

Growing up in Michigan in a large, boisterous family, Hudson found “quiet time” by creating. A self-taught artist, her love of drawing was enhanced by the change of seasons – the changes in the atmosphere – and all of the brilliant flowers and colors that arrived with each season. Art allows her to visually express her love of life and the natural beauty all around. Through use of vivid color and detail, Hudson has become known for her detailed paintings of figures and tropical birds, as well as her versatility of subject matter. Greatly influenced by the art of Norman Rockwell, her paintings often tell a story or simply engage the viewer with the attention to detail.

Today, Hudson teaches oil painting at the Marco Island Center for the Arts, belongs to The Naples Art Association and Bonita Springs Center for the Arts, and is a juried member of both American Women Artists and Oil Painters of America. She finds great joy in painting live and has participated in numerous wet paint events. Her award-winning work can be found in private collections through the U.S. and abroad.
