You are cordially invited to a special commemorative event hosted by the Marco Island Historical Society in partnership with the Marco Island Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in support of our nation’s 250th anniversary.
Founding Mothers imagines a July 4, 1776 meeting of remarkable women whose husbands were signers of the Declaration of Independence. The original play brings to life Abigail Smith Adams, Elizabeth “Betsy” Wells Adams, Dorothy Quincy Hancock, Annis Boudinot Stockton, and Julia Stockton Rush, portrayed by members of the Marco Island Chapter, NSDAR, and the Marco Island Historical Re-enactors.
Following the performance, guests are invited to an opening reception celebrating our newest exhibit, America the Beautiful, featuring Clyde Butcher’s iconic photographic tribute to the American landscape.
Refreshments will be served.
We hope you will join us for this meaningful America250 event honoring the women, stories, and natural beauty that shaped our nation.
