Volunteers Are Priceless
True success happens when people come together and share their time, talents, and passion. Our volunteers play a vital role in bringing history to life and making everything we do possible.
We can’t wait to welcome you to our team!

Gift Store Volunteer
If you’re seeking a fulfilling opportunity to share our story as a Gift Store Volunteer, we invite you to join our team! We take immense pride in featuring both local talent and internationally recognized artists and authors. Volunteering with us involves engaging in a retail environment that showcases a wide range of history-based items, artwork, handcrafted jewelry, books, and educational items. Volunteers will be responsible for handling financial transactions and operating a point-of-sale system.
Our Gift Store operates from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and volunteer shifts last for three hours.

Collections Volunteer
Volunteering in the Collections Department offers a unique opportunity to get hands-on with history while making a positive impact. Under the supervision of department staff, collections volunteers assist with the processing, documentation, and inventory of historical documents, photographs, and objects. Typical tasks include data entry, scanning, object photography, research, and other specialized assignments, which contribute to the preservation and accessibility of our extensive collection.
Collections volunteers should be detail oriented and have an avid interest in history, archaeology, museum studies, or a related field. Training is provided, and volunteer opportunities are dependent on project and space availability.
Sculpture Maintenance Program
Additionally, we offer volunteer opportunities with the MIHS Sculpture Maintenance Program. Program volunteers help keep our beloved outdoor sculpture of the Key Marco Cat paws-itively radiant by assisting staff with regular rinses and waxing of the bronze a few times a year. Training is provided.

Events Volunteer
If you enjoy representing our hospitality, we invite you to volunteer with the team that supports our programs and special events. We host a diverse range of activities aimed at enlightening and entertaining our guests at both the museum and our program venue, Rose History Auditorium. Volunteer tasks for events include greeting attendees, serving refreshments, and offering directions. We welcome those who enjoy engaging with others to apply.
